There are reports that were published regarding issues facing Black youths. One of the publications is the 2017 survey regarding the development of Ontario’s Black Youth Action Plan, that report points to the top 10 issues facing Black youth:
ANTI-RACISM AND MULTICULTURALISM WORKSHOP FOR BLACK YOUTHS
This program provides advocacy, learning and needed awareness in dealing with issues effecting Black youths including the 10 issues referred above. The workshops topics include:

Our career support and employability services are delivered in diverse ways according to the needs of participants. We will match participants up with the right jobs. We advise or provide training which suits needs and experiences of participants.
BUSINESS & ENTERPRISE SUPPORT
CAD Youths provides the conditions and support to enable young entrepreneurs, to realize their potential and ambitions. We conduct regular start up trainings and provide connections with persons in business for guidance, mentoring and support.
TRAININGS & SUPPORTS
Are you looking for an apprenticeship or work placement? Would you like to start a specific course which you cannot fund? Perhaps you would like to earn whilst you learn. Whatever your training needs are, come and speak to one of our experienced consultants and we can point you in the right direction. We engage youths in programs to improve public speaking, critical thinking and professionalism.
Our employability trainings incorporate Black history and self-identification classes as a psychological tool to self-realization. We aim to re-educating our youths and positively affecting their mindset, boost their confidence, self-esteem, motivation and ultimately their ability to succeed in the wider society. The workshops are held online or in person.
JOB EXPO, NETWORKING AND EMPLOYMENT SERVICES
With Black graduates up to three times more likely to be unemployed than white graduates, there is a real need to correct this inequality within the Canadian labour market. The situation is worse for Blacks that are not graduate. CAD Youths acts as an intermediary between the employers and the black graduates and not graduates looking for employment. We undertake job Expos in association with employers. A great opportunity for networking.
We support participants through the whole process of connecting with potential employer, employment application, interviews and job offer. We also provide after employment supports.
OUR COLLABOTATIONS – REFERRAL AND SIGNPOSTING
CAD Youths aims to collaborate with other agencies and organisations in providing a holistic service which works for participants. These agencies and organisations will offer a plethora of services and specialist support including job referrals, mental health, psychological, emotional and general wellbeing supports. We have identified many complementary service providers in the community that can be of immense benefits to participants. We do not only act as conduit or hub in our referral policy, but we also continue to work with participants and liaise with the third-party agencies to ensure that participants are properly assisted.
RESUME WRITING AND INTERVIEW SKILLS
In addition to training participants on act of writing a resume, CAD Youths will assist participants to creating a CV that represents them and is tailored to reflect their own interests and uniqueness. We would not only train you for interview skills we would provide mock interviews before you attend the actual interview.
EMPLOYER COLLABORATION SERVICES
We employ services of dedicated consultants to identify local and national employers who share CAD Youths passion for diversity and commitment to help more Black youths into employment and training. CAD Youths works closely with employers in developing training needs. We identify participants that matched the needs of employer. We aim to excite employers with the services we provide especially our pre-employment training that helps participants move seamlessly into employment. We help employers to improve their staff diversity by providing work ready participants. Our database of talents, trained and prepared for work would be very useful to employers.
BACK TO WORK FOR EX-CONVICT AND VICTIMS OF CRIME
Unemployment among Blacks especially Black youths increase gang membership, drug and crime. Over 80% of known gang members in Ontario and Canada are black males. About 70% of violent crime that is committed against a black male is committed by another Black male. Black Males are three times more likely to be imprisoned for an identical crime that is committed by a white offender. After serving term the chances of a black person getting back into the labour market is made worse. Some of our weekly and biweekly trainings are earmarked for getting persons with criminal conviction back to work. Our advocacy on why they should not be punished twice including changes they have made aims to persuade employers to give them a chance. Our collaboration with employers is very useful in helping them as they participate in developing need programs.
FINANCIAL LITERACY AND PERSONAL MANAGEMENT
CAD Youths provides assistance and support that helps black youths understand personal financial matters and how to manage their affairs. We apply basic budgeting, savings, prioritization principles, need and want to everyday live.
We seek to empower youth with financial literacy skills to improve their financial well-being, financial security and the general well-being. Through the financial literacy program, the youth will gain financial literacy skills which will empower them with skills and knowledge to navigate the complexity of personal finance. Our goal which is to improve the quality of life which will have a positive effect on personal development and balance live.
HUMAN CENTRED ENGAGEMENTS FOR PEER TO PEER SKILL LEARNINGS:
CAD Youths uses their human centered projects focusing on opportunity for youths to hang out, play and share their goals and ambition in a recreation environment.
MENTORING & BACK TO SCHOOL PROGRAMS
CAD Youths projects researches, identifies, builds, and nurtures strong networks that the youths can depend on. Youths will build such connections that will help them develop healthy relationships, self-esteem, confidence, and trust in the social systems. Through use of Black mentors and role models during mentoring sessions we increase the sense of belonging for young people which will help them thrive.
CAD Youth Mentoring Program sessions is biweekly throughout the year with focus on advancement of black youths. The program has a structured Curriculum covering:
The goal of the CAD Youth Mentoring Program is to inspire the Black youth and guide them to opportunities and support that will assist in achieving the completion of education, get necessary volunteer and/or work experience and eventually transition to a chosen career.
CAD Youths assist in the development of needed skills for education and employment like focus skills, success skills, personal health skills, perseverance skills, communication skills, Personal self-control and determination skills, also improved employment outcome that we know will lead to good health and great well-being.
Education and Employment
Youth are supported in enrolling in or re-enrolling in academic programs, maintaining attendance and grades, graduating from high school, and pursuing post-secondary programs.
Youths receive educational and employment counselling to help them choose options from a strength-based approach, assistance with developing critical communication and financial literacy skills, and opportunities for connecting with industry leaders in hospitality and trades.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
Except where specified, all our programs are online and in person. The choice is yours.
Application Period: Registration is open all year.
Eligibility: Black and visible minority are eligible to participate. The program is open to youth from 12 – 30 years. There are two groups. Group 1 – Under 18 years. Group 2 – 18 years and above. We would assign your group to you.
Duration: The programs duration is 4 sessions to 16 sessions depending on the program.
Parents and Guardians/Caregivers are encouraged to apply and may be contacted for interview upon review of application.
Notification of acceptance will be sent to successful youth.
There are no fees associated to participate in the CAD Youths program.
Transportation is NOT provided for in person programs.
Location will be provided to participants who choose the in-person options.
We award certificate of completion which confirms what you have achieved.

CAD Youths in STEM Club and Robotics Studies
We provide a safe place for Black Youth to explore science and technology and find their place in it!
We teach STEM and Robotics coding and other necessary technology topics. Black youth in STEM enjoy the opportunity to gather and learn with other Black youth in a fun, hands on approach. This is an amazing opportunity for Black Youth to engage with science.
Black youth in STEM provides hands-on learning opportunities about coding, computational thinking, and other science topics led by Black university students studying STEM.
This is a 5-week program (1 day a week) at a university.
Measuring STEM SUCCESS
Focus on youth that are Black and from low-income households.
